Advocating for Fair Drone Regulations
As a dedicated advocate for responsible drone operation and growth in New York City, the NYC Drone Coalition aims to be at the forefront of integrating drones into the city's bustling ecosystem, while strictly adhering to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) regulatory guidelines. The Coalition's mission is twofold: ensuring compliance with the FAA's regulations to promote safety and privacy, and fostering an equitable environment for drone technology to flourish as part of the city's service economy.
The NYC Drone Coalition acknowledges the initial hesitancy among New York City's lawmakers to implement a drone permitting system, alongside the ongoing hurdles professionals face in securing UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) permits. In response, our Coalition is dedicated to evolving into a significant advocacy force. Our goal is to ensure key city agencies—including the NYPD, the Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Mayor’s Office of Film and Television—operate within their legal boundaries, avoiding the imposition of unauthorized rules and respecting the federal guidelines set forth by the FAA under Part 107 for professional drone usage.
By positioning ourselves as a bridge between the drone community and city authorities, we strive to foster a constructive dialogue that ensures drone operations can thrive within the legal and safety frameworks established at both the city and federal levels. Our advocacy efforts are geared towards creating a balanced and fair permitting process that supports the growth of professional drone services in New York City, while safeguarding public safety and privacy.
